The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was the first common carrier railroad in the United States. having begun operations in 1830 after Charles Carroll. a signer of the Declaration of Independence. headed the groundbreaking ceremonies.
From humble beginnings, the B & 0 became perhaps the most important railroad of the pioneer age of railroads. The railroads were the first mechanized form of mass transportation, so this stock certificate is an important part of the early Industrial Revolution.
Excellent condition. Expect small holes. which are original cancellation marks (near bottom and not affecting vignettes). Size of piece is 6 in length by 9 in width. Comes in resealable clear bag.
