A very rare opportunity for you to own a document issued to a Revolutionary War soldier! These bonds. dated 1780-1782. were issued to solders “in the Connecticut Line of the Continental Army.'
Measures 8″ x 4.25”. These were 'Payable in Gold or Silver or Bills of Credit?' Each of these bonds was typically carried in a soldier's wallet for several years and will show some wear.
The state was simply unable to pay solders in full during the wars financially difficult times. Interest was paid and noted on the back for 6 to 8 years. Each bond is signed by John Lawrence. Treasurer of the State.
